IT Support Update - Monday 15th February 2021

Over the past few weeks we have noticed that requests for support have been occurring in ways and means that have made it difficult for the team to fulfil. This has added additional pressures upon the team and therefore I wanted to outline our current position, and the correct approach to obtaining IT Support.

The Gardens & Museums IT Team are currently working from home and generally only on site if engaging in project work which cannot be achieved off-site. Therefore if you need support on site please liaise with us in advance (at least 72 hours) so that said support can be arranged in line with other ongoing work and in a safe manner. Also please do not just drop by the office, as it’s unlikely someone will be there or available to assist.

Additionally, we have recently seen an increase of IT requests sent directly to our individual email addresses. Please send *all* Gardens & Museums IT support requests to it@museums.ox.ac.uk. We are not always monitoring our email due to other pressures, whereas emails sent to it@museums.ox.ac.uk  will reach the entire team so it is far more likely you will get a quicker response this way. We are aware that sometimes you want to contact a specific member of the team for a variety of reasons, but there could be reasons (particularly at the moment) why said member of the team will be unavailable, so please do email it@museums.ox.ac.uk.

Finally, support with your CONNECT Computer should be directed towards IT Services (01865 612345) who fully manage this service. The amount of support we (Gardens & Museums IT) can offer for a CONNECT Computer is limited, and therefore requests are often just re-directed to IT Services. Please read: https://it.museums.ox.ac.uk/how-get-support for further information on this.
